A remarkable achievement has been unlocked by researchers hailing from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, as they have successfully harnessed WiFi network data for advanced visualization.

According to the official report from Amirkabir University of Technology's Public Relations Department, Mohammad Hadi Kefayati, an alumnus of the university and the project lead for "Wireless Environmental Monitoring Using Machine Learning via Channel Estimation Data," elucidated the primary objective of their endeavor: "Our aim was to monitor and collect environmental data through the existing WiFi wireless network infrastructure."
Elaborating on their groundbreaking research, Kefayati highlighted a milestone accomplishment: "For the first time in research, we have achieved environmental imaging with a quality comparable to that of traditional cameras, utilizing this WiFi data. Furthermore, we have developed multiple modes of environmental visualization. This innovation promises to enhance environmental monitoring, safeguard individuals' privacy by replacing conventional video cameras, and address the limitations of video cameras in emergency scenarios, such as low-light conditions or the presence of smoke."
He underscored the practical applications of this pioneering research, emphasizing its immediate relevance to the telecommunications industry, as well as health and surveillance systems.
In discussing potential applications, Kefayati revealed the versatility of their project, encompassing health and activity monitoring within an environment, tracking an individual's impact on their surroundings, and the potential for augmenting surveillance systems based on video imagery to overcome their inherent limitations in environmental monitoring.
The visionary leaders behind this project were Dr. Hassan Aghaie Nia and Dr. Vahid Pour Ahmadi, esteemed members of the academic faculty at Amirkabir University of Technology.
